Filing and Processes > Annual Employer’s Returns

SimplePay automatically generates the documents required for you to do your year-end filing with the Internal Revenue Department based on finalised payslips for the relevant tax year.

Where take-on balances were entered, these values will also be included in the IR56Bs. More information on entering take-on balances can be found in the following section:

To access these documents, please go to Submissions > Annual Employer’s Returns.

IR56A

The IR56A is the employer’s return of remuneration and pensions for the relevant tax year and should be submitted to the Internal Revenue Department within one month of receiving it.

IR56B

The IR56B is the employer’s return of remuneration and pensions for each eligible employee for the relevant tax year.  The IR56Bs must be submitted to the Internal Revenue Department together with the IR56A, within one month of receiving the IR56A from the IRD.

SimplePay creates an IR56B for each of your employees, which can be downloaded in PDF format by clicking on the PDF icon next to their name. The IR56B is applicable to employees, whether resident in Hong Kong or not, whose total income for the year from 1 April to 31 March is in excess of $132,000 (if employed for less than a year the income is proportionately reduced).

SimplePay also creates an XML file for e-submission, which may be downloaded by clicking on XML data file containing IR56B record.
